Asia: Southeast Asia and Japan
Southeast Asia is where TikTok Shop started. Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam went live in the early 2021 to 2022 window, before TikTok Shop existed as a named product in Western markets. The region remains the platform's highest-volume social commerce environment: LIVE Shopping streams in Indonesia and Thailand routinely generate transaction volumes that still look anomalous to brands entering from Europe or the US.
The format dynamics in SEA are different from Western markets. In Singapore, live commerce is a mainstream purchase channel, not a niche one. Sessions on TikTok LIVE run for hours; hosts manage product queues, flash price drops, and real-time audience questions. The purchase decision happens inside the stream. Brands entering Singapore without a LIVE Shopping strategy are entering the market with one arm behind their back, even if their product catalogue and paid ads are well structured.
Indonesia is the region's largest market by population and the one with the most mature creator-seller ecosystem. The affiliate model, where creators earn commission on sales generated through their content, is deeply embedded. New market entrants typically need to seed the affiliate network before organic creator pick-up builds momentum.
Japan is the newest addition. TikTok Shop launched there on June 30, 2025. Six months in, the numbers were notable: seller registrations grew roughly three times over, reaching more than 50,000 shops. Creator participants reached over 200,000. Buyer numbers grew more than 20 times from launch baseline. Around 70 percent of transaction volume originated from content-driven purchases through videos and live streams, consistent with the SEA pattern. Japan's consumer base for TikTok Shop splits roughly evenly between the 18-34 age group and the 35-plus group, which is a broader demographic base than many brands assume.
For brands already operating in leapbuzz's priority markets of Singapore and Malaysia, TikTok Shop represents an owned-channel commerce layer that sits on top of existing social presence. The internal linking between social commerce strategy and in-market TikTok operations is where the compounding starts.
Europe: UK first, then a rolling continental rollout
The UK went live in 2021, making it TikTok Shop's first Western market by a significant margin. The UK launch was low-profile at the time; TikTok Shop was framed as a test for whether social commerce could work outside Southeast Asia's already-primed environment. It could. By the time the US launch came in September 2023, TikTok had two years of UK seller data to draw from.
The continental European expansion took longer than initially planned. TikTok had signalled Germany, Italy, France, and Ireland as 2024 targets but pulled those launches back to concentrate resources on the US market. Spain launched in December 2024 as the first step of the wider continental rollout. Germany, France, and Italy went live around March 31, 2025. Ireland, Netherlands, Poland, and Belgium have since come online, completing the current European footprint of nine markets.
The European seller ecosystem is still building. At the time of the continental launches, a significant share of listed products came from sellers shipping cross-border from China, which affected delivery times and returns experience. TikTok's stated focus in Europe has been recruiting local sellers to improve the buyer experience. For European-based brands, this creates an early-mover dynamic: category competition inside TikTok Shop is thinner than on Amazon or domestic marketplaces.
- United Kingdom (from 2021): most mature European TikTok Shop ecosystem; LIVE Shopping is established; affiliate creator networks are active across beauty, fashion, and home categories.
- Spain (December 2024): first continental European market; buyer base skews mobile-first; LIVE Shopping adoption growing.
- Germany, France, Italy (~March 31, 2025): launched together; seller onboarding still in growth phase; marketplace competition lower than UK at comparable category level.
- Ireland, Netherlands, Poland, Belgium (live as of July 2026; individual launch dates not separately primary-sourced): all appear on seller.tiktok.com as active registration markets.
The EU AI Act and DSA compliance implications for TikTok Shop advertising are still evolving. Sellers running ads on European TikTok Shop inventory should track platform policy updates on transparency requirements, particularly for algorithmic recommendation disclosures. The Smart+ campaign architecture that governs TikTok's AI-automated buying applies across European markets with the same mechanics as the US.
Americas: US anchor, Mexico and Brazil live
The US is TikTok Shop's most strategically significant market. The September 12, 2023 launch brought shoppable videos, LIVE Shopping streams, and storefronts to over 150 million US TikTok users. The platform's in-feed shopping format, where a product link appears natively inside a video without interrupting the watching experience, suited US consumer behaviour in a way that standalone shopping tabs had not.
The US market also carried the most platform risk. Potential regulatory action through 2024 and into 2025 created uncertainty for sellers building US TikTok Shop operations. That uncertainty eased through 2025 as legislative pressure did not result in a platform exit. By mid-2026, the US TikTok Shop market was stable enough that federal employees regained permission to install TikTok on government devices.
Mexico and Brazil are both listed as live seller markets on TikTok's seller centre as of July 2026. Individual launch dates for both markets were not found in primary-sourced announcements at the time of this article. What is clear from TikTok's seller centre listing is that sellers in both markets can register local storefronts and access the same Marketplace Seller entry route available in the US. For brands in leapbuzz's US and Americas-facing programmes, Mexico and Brazil add adjacent social commerce surfaces where the same TikTok audience demographics skew young and mobile-first.
Canada remains unavailable for seller registration. As leapbuzz serves Canadian market clients through paid social and search, this is a relevant gap: Canadian brands wanting TikTok Shop presence need to either wait for a local programme or explore Global Selling routes from an existing registered market, which comes with its own fulfilment and customer service complexity.
Australia and Canada: not available for sellers
Australia is the market that generates the most search queries in this topic cluster. The question "is TikTok Shop available in Australia" gets asked with enough frequency to show up in 28-day GSC data. The honest answer as of July 2026: no.
seller.tiktok.com lists 19 markets across three regions. Australia appears in none of them. There is no "coming soon" indicator on the seller centre. TikTok has not published a confirmed Australian launch date. Australian sellers cannot register a domestic storefront through any available programme at this date. Global Selling is a cross-border route for sellers registered in live markets to reach consumers in other live markets; it does not surface TikTok Shop products to consumers in countries where TikTok Shop has not launched.
Australia status
TikTok Shop is not available for seller registration in Australia as of July 2026. No confirmed launch date has been published by TikTok. This article will be updated when that changes.
Canada is in the same position. It is not listed on the seller centre, and no launch announcement has been made. Canada's proximity to the US market and shared language might suggest a straightforward extension, but TikTok's market-by-market rollout pattern requires each market to have its own seller centre application, local payment setup, and tax registration. TikTok has not publicly committed to a Canadian launch timeline.
For Australian and Canadian brands watching this space, the practical options are:
- Build TikTok paid social capability now so the audience relationship exists when TikTok Shop becomes available locally.
- Explore Global Selling from a registered market to reach consumers in live TikTok Shop markets (not Australian or Canadian consumers, who cannot access TikTok Shop regardless of the seller's registration country).
- Focus TikTok content strategy on the social commerce discovery mechanics that operate independently of TikTok Shop: product-linked videos drive traffic to owned e-commerce even without an in-app checkout.
How sellers enter each TikTok Shop market
TikTok Shop operates locally in each market. A US seller centre account does not grant access to a European or Asian storefront. Each registration is separate. This has operational implications for multi-market brands: the seller centre applications, business documentation, bank account requirements, and tax identity requirements vary by jurisdiction.
Three seller entry routes run across the live markets:
- Marketplace Seller: List products in the TikTok Shop catalogue. The seller handles fulfilment, customer service, and returns. Available in all 19 live markets. This is the primary entry route for brands wanting controlled product presentation and margin retention.
- TikTok Shop Affiliate: Creators earn commission by promoting products in their content. Sellers set commission rates; creators link products in their videos and live streams. The affiliate network is most mature in SEA (Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia especially) and growing in the UK and US. Seeding the affiliate network at launch is the critical lever for organic content velocity.
- Global Selling: Cross-border access for sellers without a registered entity in a live market. Listed in the Asia section of the seller centre. A seller registered in Singapore can use Global Selling to reach consumers in other live markets. For Australian and Canadian brands, this is the only available route, but it does not provide a domestic storefront, local payment rails, or the algorithm-boosted visibility that local storefronts receive.

Brands running TikTok advertising through leapbuzz's TikTok platform programmes can layer TikTok Shop as a commerce surface on top of existing audience and ad infrastructure. The paid social architecture (Video Shopping Ads, LIVE Shopping Ads, Product Showcase) connects directly to the seller centre catalogue, meaning ad spend and shop operations share the same data layer.
